Amar Singh, Suresh Pachauri among 81 retire from Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) SP leader Amar Singh, Shatrughan Sinha of BJP, Congress member Suresh Pachari and busines magnate Vijay Mallya were among the 81 members who bid adieu to the Rajya Sabha after they completed their six year term, at a ceremony here this evening.

However, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is also mong those retiring is being re-elected from Assam.

''As elders members are a valuable pool of wisdom,'' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who spoke at the ceremony said. There is no dearth of avenues to serve the process of nation building, he added.

Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari termed the parting as ''sweet sorrow'' and said the House is a unique institution for its continuity.
