SAS Motors launches first Angad tractor hypermart

Patna, Mar17(UNI) SAS Motors Limited, country's low-cost tractor manufacturing company, will soon launch Bihar's first tractor hypermart at Hajipur in association with a city-based social entrepreneur.

Addressing a press conference here today, SAS Managing Director Ravindra Kumar said the hypermart 'Angad' is an innitiative to replace the traditional means of farming with an affordable farm automation system for the rural sector.

''Our aim is to alleviate rural poverty and allow the poor to realise their dreams of a prosperous future'', Mr Kumar said adding that Angad tractor is definately a suitable alternative to a bullock cart.

He also maintained that at the hypermart the farmers would be provided vocational training on farming and their queries be answered on a toll free number round the clock.

''It is a cost effective formula of agriculture as their products like Angad 240-D model available in the market comes loaded with 22 HP single cylinder engine which is 30 per cent more fuel efficient,'' he said adding that it can be repaired even by a bicycle mechanic thus reducing maintenance costs by a further 30 per cent.

He further claimed to launch a ''Lakhtakia Tractor'' loaded with 15 HP single cylinder engine across the country, at the reasonable price of Rs 89,000 within three months.

There is huge regional imbalances in farm mechanisation leading to disparity in land productivity and rural economy, he said citing an example that Ludhiana owns more tractor than whole of Bihar.

Highlighting some of the features he said Angad's portfolio of farm implements include a power tiller, rotary cultivator, pumping set and a rural transport vehicle to facilitate connectivity between villages on off-highway Kuccha roads besides generating electricity and earn substantial income for themselves.
