RS polls: Papers of six party candidates in order
Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) Nominations of six candidates fielded by the ruling DMK, Congress, CPI(M) and AIADMK were found valid and they are set to be declared elected unopposed on March 19, the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
When the papers were taken up for scrutiny today, nominations filed by DMK candidates A A Jinnah, Vasanthi Stanley, Congress nominees G K Vasan and Jayanthi Natarajan, CPI(M) candidate T K Rengarajan and AIADMK candidate N Balaganga were found valid.
Returning Officer and Assembly Secretary M Selvaraj, who scrutinised the papers in the presence of Election Observor and Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta, rejected the papers filed by four independents as they were not valid.
Mr Selvaraj would formally announce the election of the six party candidates on March 19, the last date for withdrawal.
