NC will win CA polls with majority: Deuba
Kathmandu, Mar 17 (UNI) Former prime minister and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba today claimed that the NC will win the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.
Mr Deuba, who was campaigning for the April 10 polls, said the victory of the NC in the elections was necessary for a sustainable democratic system of governance.
Speaking at a press meet today, the former prime minister mentioned that freedom would be ensured only after a democratic constitution is drafted.
''The media will have to suffer the most in the absence of a democratic constitution as the freedom of press, expression and opinion will be prohibited,'' Kantipur quoted Mr Deuba as saying.
Mr Deuba appealed to the Maoist to change their activities and reminded that their excesses would backfire on themselves.
When asked about the claims made by Mr Prachanda and other Maoist leaders that their lives were in threat, Mr Deuba said he was unaware of such claims.
The NC leader said these claims by the Maoist leaders might have been misinterpreted and asked the former rebels to correct their expressions and activities or they might be isolated from the national and international communities.
Mr Deuba, who has registered his candidacy for the first time from his home districts of Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur, claimed that he would be the future Prime Minster of the country.
''I am second to only Girija Babu in the party hierarchy,'' Mr Deuba added.
