Minor girl raped and murdered near Phagwara Railway Stn

Phagwara, Mar 17 (UNI) A Bihari migrant's eight-year-old daughter was allegedly raped and killed by the rickshawpuller engaged by the family to drop them to local railway station.

The child was allegedly raped and murdered by Bihari migrant rickshawpuller Surinder Parshad near Phagwara Railway Station late last night, Railway Police Phagwara Incharge Gurdip Singh told UNI here adding that the dead body of the victim was found near Maal Godown this afternoon.

According to GRP Incharge, the victim's father Kari Mian had engaged acquaintance Surinder Parshad to ferry his family to the railway station to board a Bihar-bound train.

When the couple was purchasing the railway tickets, Parshad disappeared with the child on the pretext of getting a water flask from the rickshaw.

GRP officer said that after two hours the accused returned to railway station and met the harassed Kari Mian. On being asked about the girl, he insisted that she had immediately gone back after getting her flask.

The accused even joined them in the search for the missing girl.

GRP Incharge said that the Railway police found the body of the girl lying in sleepers near maal godown with a handcurchief wound around her neck.

Police have registered a case under section 302/201/376.IPC and sent the body to civil hospital for post martem.

The accused rapist was still at large.
