Lucknow, Mar 17 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has taken strong exception on a meeting called by an Union Minister of the SC/ST members of Parliament to discuss ways to implement reservation in the private sector.

''Such meeting can only be termed as an eye-wash as a Union Minister has all power to raise the matter in the cabinet and force the government to implement it'', she said.

Talking to reporters here, Ms Mayawati without taking the name of the Union Minister said the proposed meeting would result nothing as the leaders themselves are not serious in implementing the reservation in the private sector.

Claiming that UP is the first state of the country to implement reservation in the private sector, the CM said we have fulfilled the promises made to the people.

In UP, the BSP government had introduced 30 per cent reservation in the private sector (10 per cent each for SCs, Backwards and poor of the upper caste) in all the private units who takes the government benefits.

Union Minister for Fertiliser and Steel Ramvilas Paswan has called a meeting of the SC/ST member of Parliament today in New Delhi to discuss upon the implementation of reservation in the private sector.
