Home Minister expresses concern over extortions
Kohima, Mar 17 (UNI) Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L.Imchen has expressed concern over recurrant extortions in Nagaland, which has resulted in spiraling price hike in essential commodities.
In a statement here today, the minister said that extortion is a serious concern for the government, especially in the state's commercial hub Dimapur, which reportedly caused the rise in prices of essential commodities.
He said that he had already asked the police and civil administration to immediately look into the issue and take necessary measures to bring down the prices.
Mr Imchen said his priority would be to maintain the law and order in the state and streamline the existing police administration to the utmost effective level.
Furthermore, he informed that he is personally discussing the matter with experts and senior police officials and an action plan would be taken up soon to curb extortions and maintain law and order throughout the state.
