Fresh Committee to dispose off J'khand movement cases

Ranchi, Mar 17 (UNI) Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi today informed the Assembly that a fresh committee will be formed to expedite the disposal of cases related to the ''Jharkhand movement'', launched for creation of a separate state.

Replying to a query of suspended BJP MLA Pradep Yadav, Mr Marandi said that earlier a committee was formed in this regard but failed to submit its report before the government.

He also said the a new commiitee would visit each and every district to inquire about the matter and a detailed information in this regard would be published in the newspapers.

Mr Marandi added that applications were also sought by the victims for disposal of their cases.

Besides, officials were also asked to compile list of incidents which occurred during the agitation launched for the formation of a separate state.

According to the list obtained by officials, about 426 such cases were reviewed by the government, he added.

The state government had decided to dipose off about 340 cases, involving about 3216 people, Mr Marandi informed, further adding that 29 cases were related with the damage of the Central government property and thus permission from the Centre was required for disposal of those cases.

He said that the Centre had asked to provide other informations related to the cases in Engish.
