Erstwhile Indian employees stir postponed to April 4

Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) The proposed 24-hour stir called by all sections of employees of the erstwhile Indian from midnight today has been postponed to April 4, following talks between the union leaders and the management here today.

Talking to newspersons at the airport here, Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the employees unions Regional Secretary S Rajkumar said ''we have postponed our stir to April 4 since the management has sought some more time to consider our demands''.

''The decision to postpone the stir was taken during a meeting held between the JAC and the management this afternoon in the presence of the Labour Commissioner,'' he added.

''We would wait for the management's decision on our demands, including implementation of agreements relating to wages and cadre policy,'' he said.

The employees had threatened to go on a 24-hour strike to press the management to look into their long-pending demands.
