Choose 'Gujarat model' government, Modi tells K'taka farmers

Hubli, Mar 17 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister and fire brand BJP leader Narendra Modi today called upon the farmers of Karnataka to choose a government on the model of Gujarat by voting his party to power in the coming elections.

Addressing a massive farmers' rally organised by the BJP here, he 'explained and defined the Gujarat Model' of governance and claimed that the farming community was very happy with the model and voted the party back to power for the second time.

"I am providing 24 hours of three phase electricity to the villages under Jyoti Gram Yojana. The minute I was made Chief Minister I began working towards bringing a solace to villagers, students, industrialists and others who suffered due to irregular power supply," he said.

Mr Modi said this was done by erecting 23 lakh new electric poles, installation of 56,000 transformers and laying of 75,000 kilometers of cable in his state and the result was in front of anybody to see in exactly 1000 days.

"It only needed will to achieve this. I did not go for big projects just used the infrastructure available to meet the electricity needs of the people and succeeded. And this is the Gujarat Model No. one for you," he said.

He said Gujarat model No two meant providing an absolute majority to one party in the elections. One party government meant stable government and more accountability and responsibility.
