Checkposts along coast to check LTTE infiltration: DGP
Coimbatore, Mar 17 (UNI) Tamil Nadu DGP P Rajendran said 60 checkposts were set up along the coastal areas intensifying patrolling to check LTTE infiltration into the state.
Talking to newsmen here last evening after inaugurating police quarters constructed at a cost of Rs 2.90 crore, he denied any LTTE or Naxal infiltration into the State but said the police had intensified patrolling.
Police had formed special teams to counter Naxal threat in all the districts and were being given special training.
A sum of Rs 60 crore was allocated for constructing around 5,000 police quarters in the State and in the next five years, all police stations would start functining from own buildings, the DGP said.
