Tekanpur, MP, Mar 17 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) Director-General A K Mitra today emphasised the need to create special commando teams for areas affected by terrorism and naxalism.

''Of the 4,000-km Indo-Bangla border, 2,500 km have been fenced,'' he told mediapersons. The officer was here to take part in the valedictory session of the First All-India Central Police Organisations and State Police Commando Tournament at the BSF Academy.

Involvement of militants in abduction and extortion is an added challenge for police and paramilitary forces, Mr Mitra said while stressing on further strengthening the informers' network.

Personnel from five CPOs and 11 states took part in the Tournament. BSF topped with 265.75 points, Assam Rifles amassed 230.30 and Central Industrial Security Force bagged 221.36. In the state police category, Andhra Pradesh stood first with 233.50.
