Boulders kill 3 in HP; Several feared dead
Kullu, Mar 17 (UNI) At least three people died and several others were feared dead after huge boulders fell on about 50 make shift shops near the tourist place of Nehru Khund in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh today, police said.
The incident occurred at about 1715 hrs about 200 metres from Nehru Khund and about six to seven km from the famous tourist resort of Manali towards Rohtang Pass, police told UNI here.
It said three bodies have been pulled out from under the boulders, while two others seriously injured in the incident have been admitted to a government hospital at Manali.
The exact number of people killed in the incident was not yet known, but the casualty figure was likely to increase, it added.
About 40 to 50 make shift shops have perished after the boulders fell on them, the police said, adding that the rescue and relief operations were being hampered due to pitch darkness in the area.
