Baragta touring nurseries and plantations

Una, Mar 17 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Minister Narender Baragta today interacted with the horticulturists of the district at the department's nursery at Saloh village.

He directed the department extension officers to visit the farmers at their doorstep to provide them latest technical interventions in the field of horticulture.

Mr Baragta informed he was undertaking a visit of all nurseries of the horticulture department to take a stock of the ongoing schemes.

He directed the officials to identify at least 10 progressive horticulturists in their respective areas and to support them in all possible ways to augment the cultivation of fruits.

The minister visited mango and citrus plantations of local farmers and interacted with them on the problems being faced by them.

The Horticulture minister informed that an innovative scheme worth 150 crores of rupees would be launched with the assistance of Centre to promote cultivation of medicinal plants in the state.

Later, Baragta, who also holds the Technical Education portfolio, visited the government polytechnic college at Ambota and inquired about the boarding facilities being provided in the hostels UNI XC AS JN VN2051
