Alok Rawat assumes charge as UPSC Secretary
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Mr Alok Rawat, a 1977 batch IAS officer of the Sikkim Cadre, assumed charge as Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, here today.
Before joining UPSC, he was Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner, Government of Sikkim.
Mr Rawat has held diverse assignments in his 30 years of administrative career, including Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Defence.
He held various posts in Sikkim government, including Resident Commissioner, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Information&Public Relations and Finance Secretary.
Mr Rawat did his graduation in Physics in 1974 from the Lucknow University. In 1989, he did his post-graduation in Development Studies from the United Kingdom.
