All 3 nominations for Rajya Sabha polls found valid
Jaipur, Mar 17 (UNI) The nominations filed by All India Mahila Congress President and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Prabha Thakur, ruling BJP state President Om Prakash Mathur and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Gyan Prakash Pilania(BJP) for March 26 Rajya Sabha polls were found valid and in order during scrutiny today.
This paves the way for declaring the three nominees elected unopposed for the upper house from the state as they are only contestants for three seats for which elections are being held.
However, the declaration for their unopposed election can be made only after the expiry of the dead line for withdrawal on March 19, Returning Officer and Rajasthan Assembly Secretary GL Chaudhary said.
While one seat has been vacated by former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, the present term of Ms Thakur and Mr Pilania is due to expire next month.
