Railway security responsibility of government: Jena

Varanasi, Mar 16 (UNI) Railway Board chairman and former principal secretary K C Jena today said maintaining law and order and curbing criminal activities in trains is the duty of the respective state governments.

After flagging off a 220th deisal engine here, Mr Jena said ''checking criminal incidences in trains is the duty of the government, however, we sit regularly with the senior police officials regarding the same.'' Mr Jena said the railways had achieved the target of producing 220 diesal locomotive at the end of this fical year and is all set to produce 250 locomotives in the next financial year.

In 1963-64, Deisal Locomotives Work (DLW) had produced only four engines.
