Pondy Lt Governor visits tsunami victims
Puducherry, Mar 16 (UNI) Lt General (Rtd) Bhopinder Singh, who assumed office as Lt Governor of Puducherry (additional charge) yesterday, visited the Chhatrapathi Shivaji Nagar and went round the row houses constructed for tsunami victims by the Maharashtra Government at Veerampattinam, near here, today.
When Mr Singh interacted with the residents, they urged him to provide them basic amenities like drinking water, drainage and compound wall. He directed the officials who accompanied him to take immediate action.
Mr Singh also visited the Coast Guard station here and the Ossudu lake, a tourist spot.
He is expected to leave for the Andamans this evening.
