Nagaland Budget Session from March 18

Kohima, Mar 16 (UNI) Nagaland Governor K.Sankaranarayanan has summoned the First Session of the 11th Legislative Assembly to meet on March 18 next from 0930 hours.

Assembly Secretary N.Benjamin Newmai in a notification here last evening said that the oath and affirmation of the newly elected members will be administered by the pro-tem Speaker Neikiesalie Nicky Kire.

Soon after that the Speaker of the House will be elected, Mr Nicky Kire said.

He has been appointed as the Speaker by the Governor till March 18.

On March 20 the business of the House will be addressed by the Governor with obituary refrences and Motion of Thanks.

The Question Hour on March will lay reports and other papers, supplementary demand for grants for regularisation of excess expenditures, presentation of supplementary demand for grants for 2007-08, introduction of government bills, consideration and passing of Appropriation bills, consideration and passing of the other bills and presentation of budget for next fiscal by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also holding the Finance portfolio.

On March 25 there would be Question Hour, laying of papers and reports, presentation of Assembly committee reports and discussion on budget for 2008-09.

On March 27, there would be Question Hour, laying of papers and reports, presentation of Assembly committee reports, discussion and voting on the Budget, the Nagaland Appropriation Bill, 2008, announcement of the names of members of various Assembly Committees, announcement of the panel of Chairman, any unfinished government business and adjournment of the session sine die, the notification added.
