Committee to probe Varanasi and Faizabad blasts

Jaunpur, Mar 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a committee to probe into the arrest of two men on December 22, regarding their alleged involvement in November 23, 2007, bomb blast on Varanasi and Faizabad court premises.

On December 22, 2007, STF had arrested Jaunpur's Khalid Mohammad and Azamgarh's Tariq Quazmi for their alleged involvement in the blast, police superintendent Lalji Shukla said.

However, people took to the streets against the arrest and said the duo were innocent, rather than terrorists.

A committee headed by Justice R D Nimesh had been constituted to investigate the matter.

The fax regarding the same was received late last night, Mr Shukla added.
