Bajarang Dal activists ransack cinema hall for screening Jodha Akb
Rourkela, Mar 16 (UNI) Bajarang Dal activists today ransacked the Apsara cinema hall in this steel city to protest against screening of the ''controversial'' film Jodha Akbar.
Police said the Bajarang Dal activists suddenly attacked the Cinema hall and started damaging the chairs, screen and other furnitures of the hall to ventilate their anger for screening the film despite earlier warning.
The people watching the movie were taken aback with the sudden attack and ran helter skelter in panic. Police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control and arrested two Bajarang Dal activists from the scene.
The district Bajarang Dal had earlier on February 10 last torn down the posters of Jodha Akbar at the Bisra Chhak and asked the cinema hall owners in the city not to screen the film alleging that it had wrongly projected the character of Jodha Bai in the film.
Sources said the Apsara cinema hall will be closed for quite long time as the big screen had been completely damaged by the Bajarang Dal activists.
