World consumers day observed
Kanpur, Mar 15 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today stressed upon the need for creating public awareness about various products being sold in the markets.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Consumers Forum, Mr Jaiswal said ''there was strong movement in the interest of producers, but no such movement existed in the interest of consumers.'' ''A producer spends around Rs 10 crores on production, Rs 100 crores on advertising that attract people towards the products...there is a need to check the quality of production provided by the producers,'' the union minister of state for home noted.
State Consumer Forum president Dhruv Kumar Shukla gave details of Consumers Protection Act, 1986 during the seminar.
