Warehousing Corpn revenue down by 12 percent

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation's revenue as well as use of godown capacity have considerably declined while its godown capacity almost remained static during 2006-07, the Assembly was informed.

The Corporation's income declined by 12 percent to Rs 34.71 crore as against Rs 39.45 crore the previous year, says its annual report for 2006-07 presented in the Assembly yesterday.

Average godown capacity remained at 11,70,526 tonnes as compared to 11,87,916 tonnes in 2005-06 and its utility came down to 71 percent at 8,25,948 tonnes in 2006-07 as against 80 percent at 9,45,694 tonnes the previous year, the report said.

The number of godown centres remained static at 232.

While there was marginal increase in the use of godowns by traders, farmers and cooperative bodies, its use by government and government institutions came down to 28.24 percent from 51.29 percent in 2005-06.

The capacity of self owned godowns also rose to 10,78,097 tonnes from 10,13,077 tonnes, while those of rented accommodation came down to 90,839 tonnes from 1,28,140 tonnes the previous year, the report added.
