Tuticorin Port achieves target set by Ministry

Chennai, Mar 15 (UNI) The Tuticorin Port Trust has crossed the target of 203.85 lakh tonne set by the Union Shipping Ministry for the fiscal 2007-08.

A release from the Port Trust today said the Port became the second major port in the country to cross the target.

The release added that the target was higher by 21.85 lakh tonne compared to the target of 182 lakh tonne set for the year 2006-07.

Thermal coal and containerised cargo registered steep increase during the financial year, the release added.
