Prism accuses Mizo govt of violating NRGES rules
Aizawl, Mar 15 (UNI) People's Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (Prism), an NGO, has accused the state government of violating the rules of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Prism president Vanlalruata alleged that the government has been providing 100 days' of employment to the urban households, which is against the guidelines of the scheme.
''It is meant for the rural poor,'' he added.
He also alleged that covering urban areas under the rural employment guarantee scheme would fail to prevent the rural folks from migrating to the urban areas thus overcrowding urban areas.
The NREGS covers the all the eight districts of the state and plans are on to cover town areas in view of the Mautam, famine caused due to excessive bamboo flowering.
