Prabha Thakur files nomination for RS election from Rajasthan
Jaipur, Mar 15 (UNI) Mahila Congress Chief sitting Rajya Sabha MP Prabha Thakur today filed her nomination papers for March 26 Rajya Sabha election from Rajasthan.
Ms Thakur reached the Returning Officer's office along with several Congress leaders including party state president C P Joshi, Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan assembly Hemaram Chaudhary and former Chief Ministers Shiv Charan Mathur and Jagannath Pahadia and submitted her papers.
Ms Thakur, whose present term to the Upper House expires next month is refielded by the Congress for a successive term.
Elections for three Rajya Sabha seats from the state are being held.
Two ruling BJP nominees party state president Om Prakash Mathur and sitting MP Gyan Prakash Pilania have already filed their nominations yesterday.
Bresides Ms Thakur, Mr Pilania is also due to complete his present term next month. One more seat was already vacated by former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh.
As per the present strength in the Rajasthan Assembly the ruling BJP is in a position to win two seats while the Congress can bag one.
