One lecturer terminated and two suspended
Bhubaneswar, Mar 15 (UNI) The Orissa Government today terminated the service of a lecturer of the Utkal Sangeeta Mahavidyalaya and suspended two others for their objectionable behaviour to girl students.
Culture Minister Suryanarayan Patro told newspersons here that the government terminated the service of contractual lecturer Nalini Nihar Naik and placed under suspension Chau dance lecturer Bhabani Shankar Biswal and drama lecturer S K Panda.
Mr Patro said the government took the action on the basis of preliminary report, submitted by the College Principal, and allegations made by the girl students.
The Minister said a three-member committee comprising Orissa Sahitya Akademic Secretary H P Paricha, Deputy Director Culture Rajashri Mohanty and Deputy Secretary Culture Bhagaban Behera was constituted to probe into the incident in detail and submit a report within a fortnight.
On Friday, students of the USM went on a rampage protesting against the objectionable behaviour of the lecturers with the girl students.
The students demanded action against the erring lecturers.
