Need to check growing naxalism: Jaiswal
Kanpur, Mar 15 (UNI) Union Minister of state for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal today expressed concern over increasing Naxalism in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and stressed the need to check it with strong hands.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Jaiswal said ''the Centre has provided nine companies of Para Military Force to assist the local police in combating the Naxalite activities in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.'' Now, it was the duty of the states to utilise the forces given by the Centre effectively, '' he added.
Reffering to internal security on border areas, he said that fencing work at Pakistan border has been completed, while it would be completed on Bangladesh border shortly.
He said that more security staff would be deployed at Nepal border in view of the upcoming election there.
The state government should employ better and honest persons in their police department to prevent any mishap, the minister said.
He was satisfied about the overall law and order situation of the country.
