Leopard mauls two-year-old boy in HP

leopard
mauled
a
two
and
a
half-year-old
boy
in
Daratt
village
of
Hamirpur
district
of
Himachal
Pradesh
last
night,
police
today
said.
The
boy,
Rishabh,
was
playing
with
his
grandfather,
Prem
Chand,
in
the
courtyard
of
their
house
when
a
leopard
appeared
on
the
scene
and
snatched
the
boy
from
the
grandfather's
lap,
following
which
he
raised
an
alarm,
the
police
said.
Their neighbourers and villagers rushed after hearing his cries for help and found the boy in critical condition in a remote area after a long chase.
Rishabh was brought to Tounidevi hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The villagers later resorted to a road blockade and demanded strict action against the doctors for negligence.
Hamirpur SP Asif Jalal and DFO Sanjay Sood persuaded the villagers and assured help and cooperation to the deceased's family.
Expressing concern over the incident, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal have sought complete detail of the incident from the Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner and the Forest department authorities.
