Cong allege fertiliser scam in Chhattisgarh
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 15 (UNI) The Congress has charged the Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Association 'Markfed' with a scam to the tune of crores of rupees by increasing the price of single super phosphate fertiliser without inviting tender.
Senior Congress legislator Balram Singh Thakur told a press conference here today that the 'Markfed' raised the price of single super phosphate from Rs 184 to Rs 200 per sack to help fertiliser supplier companies reap profit.
Mr Thakur said the companies required to supply fertiliser at Rs 184 per sack as per the terms in the memorandum. The memorandum did not provide change in price. The extra price had increased the burden on farmers by Rs 100 per acre.
He claimed that peasants were facing shortage of urea, which was being black-marketed openly.
The Congress would launch an agitation at block-level and villages level to make farmers aware about this decision of the 'Markfed'.
Besides, he would also filed a PIL in the High Court in this regard, he said.
