All-party meet on Kannur issue ends on positive note
Kannur, Mar 15 (UNI) An all-party meeting, convened by Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, today unanimously passed a resolution, stipulating guidelines for restoring peace in the trouble-torn district.
Emerging out of the meeting, the Chief Minister told newspersons that some unfortunate incidents had occurred in the district in the recent past and the political parties extended support to the government's initiatives to restore peace.
Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan moved the resoution, which stated that everyone should help restore peace.
The meet decided that if there was any move from any party to violate the guidelines, the government would take stringent measures against them. In case of any provocation by any party, the government would intervene timely to prevent further violence.
Meetings, chaired by the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, would be convened every month in the sensitive areas.
