2 dead, 25 injured in accident

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 15 (UNI) Two persons, including a 50-year-old woman, were killed and 25 others injured when a minivan collided with a State Transport Corporation bus at the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul NH in Ponnambalapatti, near here last night.

Police said, when a group of people were returning to their villages in Dindigul district after attending a temple festival at Veerappur the van hit the bus, which was coming in the opposite direction. The deceased were identified as V Pappammal and the driver of the minivan M Srinivasan, both hailed from Ayyalur in Dindigul.

Pappammal died on the way to hospital, while Srinivasan succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Dindigul.

All the injured were admitted to the Government Headquarters hospital here, police said.
