UK-based GDST to set up school in India
Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) Lavasa Corporation Limited has reached an agreement with UK-based Girls' Day School Trust (GDST) to set up a residential school at its site near Pune.
This is GDST's first foray into education in India. The proposed co-educational school with a capacity of 1,000 pupils is likely to open in September 2009.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Lavasa Corporation President Rajgopal Nogja said, ''Our aim is to bring high quality, 'Best of British' school to India, which recognizes Indian values and curriculum.'' GDST Chief Executive Barbara Harrison said, ''It's a very exciting and prestigious development and GDST is proud to be involved as a key partner from the outset.'' Recently, Lavasa Corporation Limited and Oxford University had signed a pact for the establishment of Oxford University India Business Centre (OUIBC).
