PM reaches temple town Varanasi

Varanasi, Mar 14: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was accorded a warm welcome by Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar chief minister Mayawati on arrival at Babatpur airport here this evening. The PM accompanied by his wife reached the temple city by a special Indian Air Force plane, sources said.

Besides, UP CM and Governor, Lok Sabha Congress member from Varanasi constituency Rajesh Mishra, state health minister Anand Kumar Mishra, IG zone, the DIG, the commissioner and other senior officials were also present to recieve the PM. Later, Dr Singh left for Banaras Hindu University (BHU) by IAF chopper. The PM is on a two-day visit of this holy city.

During his stay today, the PM will visit Baba Vishswanath temple, and see 'ganga arati.' Tomorrow, he would participate in the 90th convocation of the BHU.
