India provides scholarship to 50 Nepali students
Kathmandu, Mar 14 (UNI) Fifty Nepalese students were felicitated with merit certificates and scholarships here by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee at Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme's felicitation programme.
Students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 3000 and Rs 2000, depending on the courses they are pursuing.
Students pursuing MBBS and BE will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 3000, and others will get Rs 2000, it is said.
The Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme was launched in 2002 by the government of India to commemorate 50 years of Economic Cooperation between India and Nepal.
Ambassador Mukherjee at the programme yesterday stressed that the Indian Government would continue to extend assistance in the field of human resource development.
''There is a close relationship between India and Nepal in the field of Human Resource Development and over a period of time the quantum of Indian assistance in the field of education has increased both quantitatively and qualitatively,'' state run The Rising Nepal quoted Mr Mukherjee as saying.
