Badal moots defence training for unemployed youths
Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today sought the expertise of the serving and ex-defence officers from Army, Navy and Air-Force to impart training to the unemployed youths of the state to enhance their chances of employability in the defence forces considerably.
These views were expressed by Mr Badal during an interaction with a high-powered delegation of the officers from the National Defence College, New Delhi led by Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin here. The officers are on a study tour to Punjab as part of their academic curriculum.
Taking part in the deliberations, Mr Badal asked the officers to chalk out a comprehensive short-term course for the youths to ensure their selection in the defence forces.
He said the state government had already taken an initiative to impart training to the unemployed youths in private security services at Police Training Academy, Jehan Khelan in Hoshiarpur district.
The Chief Minister also discussed the modalities and scope for setting up of National Defence University in the state which would further give fillip to the avenues of defence services.
He also broadly outlined the vision of his government for establishing a Civil Aviation University in the state keeping in view the tremendous scope in this sector. He urged the officers of Air Force to suggest ways and means for the expansion of flying sector by setting up flying clubs to provide flying training to the youths.
