Violence continues to rock Assam
Guwahati, Mar 13 (UNI) Violence hit Assam badly as in a series of incidents, at least four people were killed and six injured in police firing, Army gunned down two ULFA activists, five officials were kidnapped by ultras and one bomb was exploded in the past 24 hours.
The incident occurred in upper Assam, lower Assam as well in hill districts of Assam leaving the state government literally helpless.
The latest one was the bomb blast in Rupai Siding near Doomdoma, where two people were injured.
At near Daipara of Talap one ULFA was killed.
Earlier, the Army today shot dead another hardcore ULFA militant at Tengakhat area in Dibrugarh district of Assam in a wee hour encounter even as tribal Black Widow ultras abducted five people, including three officials of a construction company of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), near Haflong in North Cachar Hill district of the state last evening.
Meanwhile, the police firing took place at Bengtol area of Chirang district following group clash between the supporters of radical National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) militants and ruling Bodoland Peoples Front(BPF).
As a result tension had gripped the entire Bodoland and a 12 -hour Bodo area bandh was called by the Bodoland Peoples Party (BPP) against the firing.
