Silver dome for TN temple
Kancheepuram, Mar 13 (UNI) Craftsmen are working on a Rs 40-lakh silver dome for the Ekambaranathar Temple here.
Work began at the initiative of the Vanniyakula Kshatriya Sangam when a five-tonne teak tree costing Rs five lakh was brought from Pondicherry.
A team of craftsman gave shape to the 'vimanam' (dome) using 150 kg of silver with images of Simham (lion), Nandi (bull) and elephant carved on the sides.
The silver dome will be used during the temple festival on March 22 when the processional deity of Ekambaranathar will be taken around the temple.
