Scope of PESB enlarged

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today approved amending the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) Resolution, allowing candidates from State Public Sector Enterprises and the private sector also to be considered as non-internal candidates for a period of five years.

The existing selection policy covers only candidates from the Central PSUs.

''The amendment will allow making the best talent available to Central PSUs, which is very much necessary in the present liberalised economic scenario,'' an official spokesperson said after the Cabinet meeting.

It would infuse more transparency and objectivity into the selections in PSUs, she said.

The Department of Personnel and Training will lay down modalities for overseeing the prescription of recruitment norms by the PESB.

Prescription of norms for development of the system of quantifiable parameters will be adopted by PESB in making selections.
