Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana corrupted: Patil

Mumbai, Mar 13: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today admitted in the state assembly that a large number of complaints had been received about corruption in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana.

As many as 13,000 staff and 7519 members of the committee of this scheme have been found guilty of indulging in corrupt practices, he said.

Replying to a question by Sahebrao Tatte (BJP) and others, Mr Patil said the government is ready to make some changes in the scheme for its proper implementation. The government is also ready to enhance the grants for the scheme, he added.

Replying to another question by Maloji Raje of the Congress about a rise in the murders of elderly citizens, Mr Patil said the police will take special measures to avoid such incidents.
