Rupee weakens 24 paise against USD

Mumbai, Mar 13: The Rupee today retreated taking a back-seat against US Dollar to skid at 40.57/58 per Dollar, weaker 24 paise from its previous close of 40.33/34 per Dollar as the Indian bourses plunged heavily in the early trade. The Indian unit slipped sharply traking the local equity market as the Asian markets fell deep into red and oil prices soared higher, dealers said. The benhmark Sensex tumbled over 690 points in the early trade on weak global cues.
