Fatehabad, Mar 13 (UNI) Illicit trafficking of narcotics, particularly poppy husk, is on the rise in Fatehabad and adjoining Sirsa district in Haryana bordering Punjab.

To curb the trend, the provision under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, of freezing and seizing the properties, earned from the income of drug trafficking, has been invoked in this area, IGP (Hisar range), Anant Kumar Dhull said here today.

Mr Dhull, here to attend a seminar on drug de-addiction organized by the district police, told mediapersons that properties of 12 persons have so far been freezed under various sub-sections of section 68 of the NDPS Act in Fatehabad district during the last three months, while cases of 14 more properties of the traffickers were in progress.

Similarly, in the neighbouring Sirsa district, six properties valued at over Rs 21 crore had been seized.

The IG further informed that as many as 300 properties of Fatehabad district and 500 properties of Sirsa district were under a scanner.
