Naveen announces honorarium for Angawanwadi workers
Bhubaneswar, Mar 13 (UNI) Thousands of Anaganwadi workers, who sat on dharna before the state Assembly demanding hike in their pay, withdrew their agitation today after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a honorarium for them in the House.
Making a statement in the House, Mr Patnaik said a monthly honorarium of Rs 500 for Anganwadi workers and Rs 250 for the helpers would be given by the State Government with effect from April 1 next over and above the honorarium being paid to them by the Union Government.
Mr Patnaik said considering the multifarious activities of the Anganwadi workers, the government had sanctioned the honorarium for them.
