Lenovo India eyes No.1 position; 21 pc market share
New Delhi, Mar 13: Chinese computer giant Lenovo is eyeing to become the number one player in the Indian PC market in the next three years with atleast a 21 per cent market share. ''The Indian market is witnessing high growth with laptops leading the sales, and we aim to get atleast 20 per cent of the market in the next three years,'' Lenovo Group President (Consumer Business) Liu Jun told reporters here.
With our strategy of Product, Price, Promotion and Place, we are confident of getting the top place in the market in the next three years, added Lenovo India Managing Director Arun Babu. The company has a 10 per cent market share in the PC segment (desktops and notebooks), while it has a 16 per cent market share in notebooks, according to an IDC study.
The company expects higher revenues from emerging markets like India, Mexico and Brazil.
India's contribution to our global revenues remain small, but we expect it to grow backed by a phenomenal growth in the retail space and first time PC buyers opting for a notebook, Companies like Hewlett-Packard, Acer and IBM have a strong retail presence and are witnessing a rise in their market share with a growth in the consumer interest in laptops.
