India to catch up on Nanotechnology
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) In a bid to make India catch up in the area of Nanotechnology, the government has launched a mission to encourage research work in the field, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Kapil Sibal, in a written reply, said an allocation of Rs 1000 crore for five years has been made to further research in the field of nano science and technology. The government has also plans to launch a variety of educational and HRD programmes and promote institution-industry linked projects through increased public private partnerships.
The Nano Mission also plans to put in special efforts towards development and commercialisation of Nanotechnology. A number of countries, including the US, Japan as well as the European Commission have sought co-operation in the area of nanotechnology through the Department of Science and Technology.
In reply to another question, Mr Sibal said the government have set up technology entrepreneurship parks in various states.
