Govt Arts College students embark on hunger strike
Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, Mar 13 (UNI) Students of the Government Arts College observed a token fast, demanding a separate hostel for the Adi Dravida students, near Freedom Martyrs Park at Devakkottai here this morning.
The agitators, owing allegiance to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), were also demanding separate hostel facility for students from the Narikurava (gypsy) community, studying at the Government Arts College at Thiruvadanai, and a Adi Dravida Students Hostel at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district.
Police had made tight security arrangements in view of the stir.
