Four new project for earthquake research
Gandhinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) In order to give an efficient response to the natural calamities, the Gujarat government has taken some special initiatives.
The Earthquake Research Institute has commissioned four new projects in Gandhinagar and Kutch and 29 earthquake research centres have been established for disaster management, sources said.
The four projects, which have been commissioned in Gandhinagar and Kutch, have undertaken seismic microzonation work at Gandhidham, Bhachau and Rapar of Kutch under microzonation project. Under Paleo- seismohom and Active faultlines in Gujarat project, history of earthquakes in Kutch is being mapped by analysing the land samples acquired from these areas, sources added.
To get urgent information regarding earthquake, 29 centres have been set in different 29 locations in the state, sources informed.
