Cong-MPC electoral alliance likely

Aizawl, Mar 13(UNI) Opposition parties Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee and Mizoram People's Conference are likely to tie up for this year's assembly polls.

MPCC spokesperson Lalsawta said today, while speaking to reporters about possible alliance with the MPC, and added, ''We are consiering it but no decision has been taken so far.'' The two parties criticised the Mizoram Governor's address at the ongoing budget session and termed it as a "decorated message".

Mr Lalsawta further disclosed that the J Lalsangzuala-led Mizoram Congress Party, an Opposition of the MPCC, is "likely to return" to the parent party.

''We had expected to get them back in February, but there were some problems within the party. But it is quite likely that they are coming back,'' the MPCC spokesman said.

Meanwhile, he dismissed rumours that the Congress Bhavan was not welcoming back former Congress stalwart and MLA Liansuama, who is presently the treasurer of the splinter group.

Incidentally, an anti-Lal Thanhawla faction had given birth to the MCP in 2005 in the aftermath of MPCC party election in which incumbent Lal Thanhawla was re-elected president.
