Chautala, his son found 'guilty' in JBT scam

Chandigarh, Mar 13 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala and his MP son Ajay Singh Chautala have been found ''guilty'' in the JBT teachers recruitment scam probed by the CBI, the Haryana assembly was told today.

Besides, Mr Chautala's former political advisor Sher Singh Badshami, bureaucrats Vidya Dhar and Sanjiv Kumar and 57 officers had also been found guilty in the case related to irregularities in the recruitment of JBT teachers in 2000, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala informed the House.

He said no sanction was now needed to prosecute Mr Chautala, his son and Mr Sher Singh Badshami in the case .

He said of the 57 public servants found guilty in the probe, as many as 49 had already retired and could be prosecuted without any sanction.

The CBI had sought permission of the state government to prosecute the remaining eight officers, which had already been granted.

The officers were being prosecuted for hatching a conspiracy to tamper the merit lists of the candidates aspriring for selection as JBT teachers and replacing the same with a forged list in order to favour certain candidates, Mr Surjewala said.

These appointing them as JBT teachers on the basis of the forged merit list, he added.
