Amusement park industry expected to grow at 6 pc

Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) The amusement park business in India, currently worth Rs 4,000 crore, is expected to grow at six per cent annually till 2010, according to a survey.

The survey, commissioned by Wonderla Holidays- a leading amusement park company, observed that the amusement park industry is still at an early stage in the country with only around 150 such parks in existence. However, as the Indian economy continues to grow rapidly and youngsters have high spending power, there is immense potential of investments and job opportunities in the amusement park industry in the country, it added.

While the amusement parks can be a great way to bond with employees and colleagues, they are also a very expensive entertainment option, the report said, adding that people prefer water sports over any other dry rides and games at an amusement park.

As a part of the survey a questionnaire was administered to 1,219 visitors at an amusement park for a period of one month. About 76 per cent respondents felt that visit to amusement parks makes them feel energetic at work and home.

Large number of professionals (66 per cent) believed offsite meetings at an amusement park can act as a bridge building exercise among employees. But almost half of the respondents felt that amusement park is a costly entertainment option.
